Sharpening the spiritual senses
Revelations 2:7
Here, the explanation that He who has ears, let him hear – is often mentioned in the Bible in various ways. Note that the problem isn’t about God speaking to us. We know that He speaks just as a man speaks to another man. However, the problem is that our ears have become dull.
(Hebrews 5:11) onwards highlights the truth that there are many things that God desires to tell us, but sadly, we cannot hear because of the dullness of hearing. When God says- Today, if you hear my voice and not harden, your hearts imply that He speaks to us daily and not occasionally. So, checking if we are attentive to His voice is essential.Attentiveness to God’s word comes from practice. It is a habit that you must cultivate, and the first step is the willingness and discipline to be at Jesus’ feet. It isn’t about reading chapters in chronological order or as a ritual but meditating on His word day and night. The Bible calls this eating the meat of God’s Word.
Dear child of God, I encourage you to sharpen your ears to be attentive to His voice because only when we listen to Him, we dwell in safety, can find peace within our lives, families, and relationships, the key to being an achiever and finally to receive the reward of eternal life.
God Bless!
