John 1:19
This story about John the Baptist highlights his strong sense of identity—he is clear about who he is not and equally clear about who he is. He knew that he wasn’t the Christ and that his mission was to prepare the way for our Lord. Likewise, in our lives, it is crucial to understand what we are not and what we are. This understanding will determine our calling, help us set our priorities, and help us understand what God is expecting from our lives.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, to be successful in God’s point of view, remember the testimony that Jesus gave about John the Baptist – who have ever lived, none is greater than John. Yet even the least person in the Kingdom of God is greater than he is!” (Luke 7:28 NLT version). It is essential to know what God expects of each of us.
