To God be the Glory
Psalm 115:1
In every endeavor, our primary motivation should be to seek God’s glory. When our actions are driven by the desire to glorify God, we will be mindful of our speech, our relationships, and our overall attitude. This focus will lead us to find favor with God. Conversely, if we act for our own satisfaction or personal gain, we exclude God from our work.
Consider Abraham’s intercession for Sodom and Gomorrah. His prayer centered on God’s glory, questioning whether the righteous Judge would destroy the righteous along with the wicked. Similarly, when Moses interceded for the Israelites, he was concerned about the reputation of God’s name among the Egyptians, asking what they would think if God brought the Israelites out of Egypt only to destroy them. Both examples show that their primary concern was the glory of God’s name.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, take heart knowing that wisdom from heaven, the support of heavenly hosts, and divine resources will be with us when we sincerely work for God’s glory. As the Apostle Paul advised, Whatever you do, do it unto God. Let God’s glory be the foremost motive and purpose of our lives.
Let us be guided by the psalmist’s words: Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
