Offering With Willful Heart

I Chronicles 29:2

This chapter is about the preparation for the temple by King David that his son Solomon would build. Notice the words of David here – I have prepared with all my might. David not only danced before the Lord with all his might, but he also prepared for the temple that would be built in future with all his might and even marked out the gold and silver treasures for the house of God because he had set his affection on the house of his God. (I Chronicles 29:3). Centuries later, Jesus, the son of David, loved the Church so much that He didn’t withhold anything, including His life.

Like David and our Lord, we must love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. (Mark 12:30). So, be it our time, money, or energy, we are called to do everything wholeheartedly. When David, as the king, took the first step of offering, the people rejoiced and offered willingly. Likewise, when we take the first step of a wholehearted service, we set a pattern that has a ripple impact on fellow believers.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let’s cultivate this habit of giving that David teaches us, and most importantly, let’s also have the humility that he exhibits. (I Chronicles 29:14). Let’s recognize what God has given us and willingly and wholeheartedly offer it back to God.

God Bless!
