Obedience: Foundation of a Consecrated Christian
In 1 Samuel 13:6-13, Samuel’s question to Saul, “What have you done?” marks a defining moment for both Saul and the nation of Israel. God desired to accomplish something great in Saul’s life, but Saul lacked the necessary character—patience to wait on God. When Samuel confronts him about his disobedience, Saul admits in 1 Samuel 13:12 that he felt “compelled” to act. Samuel then explains that God values obedience over offerings.
This incident imparts a crucial lesson: in our daily lives, the enemy often pressures us in various ways, tempting us to compromise and act contrary to God’s Word. We must remember that obedience is far more important to God than sacrifice.
Dear child of God, Saul’s impatience and disobedience cost him not only his kingdom but also the blessings meant for his descendants. As a result, God sought out a replacement for Saul. The Bible encourages us to wait on the Lord, promising that those who do will renew their strength like eagles. Don’t lose your patience—God is faithful, and His timing is perfect. As you wait on Him, remain obedient to the instructions He has whispered to your heart.
